Rodrigo Giammattei

Rodrigo Giammattei

Rodrigo Giammattei got his start in the world of coffee at age six when he accompanied his father to the family’s farm, Finca San Carlos. An agricultural engineer by profession, Rodrigo has always focused on coffee; he’s dedicated to production and roasting of coffees he grows and processes at his coffee farm in the La Palma region of El Salvador.

In 2020, Rodrigo purchased Finca El Balam in La Palma from our other partner in the area, Nacho Gutierrez, allowing Nacho to purchase additional land to try new cultivation experiments.

Rodrigo has taken great care of the land, adding new varietals, like the Kenya & SL28, and utilizing new processing techniques. In 2008, he started a roasting company in El Salvador’s La Zona Industrial Merliot. Soon after, he pioneered mobile coffee shops in the business district, an idea that was completely new to El Salvador’s coffee scene. Even though he was now running multiple businesses, he always kept a focus on the coffee. In 2017, he won the El Salvador Brewers Cup Championship with his own coffee!

His coffee offerings always showcase his expertise and passion, offering clean, sweet and complex fruit-forward experiences.

Rodrigo has also participated as a judge in several World Barista Championships, and for several years as a judge for the Cup of Excellence program, as well as acting as its coordinator one year.
