There are a couple good reasons for creating blends of coffee. For us, it allows for a method to tailor several coffee flavor profiles to suit a customer’s desires, in a way that a single coffee might not. It also allows us to provide this coffee profile for longer time periods than would be possible from a single, small lot from a farmer who might only grow enough coffee for 20 bags or less. Such a small supply would only last a few months out of the year. This way we are able to provide a proprietary, and even custom labeled, blend for folks to enjoy year-round.
The combining of several different coffees after roasting them individually can sometimes allow for a flavor profile uniquely delicious that was hard to attain with a single varietal of coffee.
